Big Tom I've never blogged so I hope I'm doing this correct...
Is there any way that we can use the new live text version for all the classes we are taking this quarter? I'm not a computer person and I'm already having problems finding all the information for my classes in the different versions.
If you are looking for templates for other classes, then 1.select the "documents" tab. 2.select the "create" button. 3.choose appropriate folder 4.choose an appropriate template. 5.type title 6.select "save as new document"
Tom- I was wondering about sending my documents for review for EDTE 523 class. It seems like livetext won't remember my reviewers once I search and add them, so I have to search each time I submit. Is there another way to avoid this, or is this just the way the new set up works. Just wondering, thanks
Hi Tom! Is there a way to post if one has Vista. I have such a problem and have to use the school computer instead of mine at home because I do not know how to get around this issue. Let me know if you have any ideas. Thanks!!!
I am wondering how we can hyperlink our websites we are suggesting. I know in Blogger-regular posting..Tom you can do this..but in the commenting portion I can't find how you could do this. Hyperlinking our suggested IEP websites would have been helpful-for future use. oh well. let me know if this feature is offered to one who is commenting(in the "Leave your comment" box).
raechel> every time that you make an addition or revision to a LiveText document you will have to go through the submit for review process. There is no way around that.
amy> that sounds like a Windows Vista problem rather than a Google Blogs or LiveText problem. I have rarely used the new Vista operating system. I would save posts/comments and then post them once you get to a functioning computer.
Haley> it is not pretty, but I was able to connect most of the websites and place them in a new post. If you create a post you can then insert however many hyper links you wish.
Big Tom- I am having trouble uploading a picture to livetext. It is just a picture off of clipboard, but every attempt I have made the white box with a red x through it also shows. Any suggestions? I am not sure what I am doing wrong....
Shawna> be sure to 1.save the picture to your desktop or documents folder. 2. select "edit" for the section in which you want to add a picture. 3. select the "edit" for images below the html editor text box. 4. upload picture (pop up window will appear be sure to browse for picture file on your desktop) 5. and choose settings below the text box(size, captions, and placement) 6. select "finish" to close the editor and return to document view.
Ok Tom, I still can't figure out the picture thing. Does it matter that I retrieved the picture from clipart and saved it in a word document. From this word document is where I am trying to attach it to LiveText. However, the red X still shows. Any suggestions? This is very frustrating. What am I doing wrong?
Shawna> pictures must saved as picture files (jpeg, png) and uploaded into LiveText To save a picture as an electronic picture 1.file right click on the image you wish to upload 2.select "save image as" to save image as a file 3.upload new image file into LiveText.
Hey Big Tom! Couple questions... First I was having a problem when I was looking up my previous documents on LT. When I would close the doc. the LT would close also. Is there a way I can avoid that or was I doing something wrong? Also it is not showing all my previous docs. From fall I am missing some and my Summary of Performance from EDSP 572. Is there a way to find that? Also, how do I create a doc? I know go to docs but then what would be my folder choice and template choice if I want something basic? Thanks for your help.
I think that one scrolls over icons in Livetext there needs to be a greater explanation for what the icon will do if were pressed. Since it is a new version maybe the authors could give more of an explanation as it related to the old version? I get so nervous when I press something that it will delete my work..
mr. tech, some advice please... If teachers wanted to share Helpful resources from the Web such as websites-like we did in one of the previous blogs, do you think it would be helpful to create school-based:
Amy> when you are having problems finding documents always 1. Select the documents tab 2. Select the "All" tab (grey tab, center right of the screen) 3. Once you have selected the "all" tab do a search for your document. You will be able to search for any document that has ever been associated with your account.
------------- It is technically impossible to close a livetext document. When you are finished you just navigate away from it. if you are selecting "log out" you are always going to be logging out of your entire account.
------------- Creating a document the traditional way will always be done from the "documents tab" After you have selected that tab. Select the grey "create" button located below the "My Work" label.
Haley> if I remember tight the strategies collection is part of the case study portfolio. It will be sent when you submit the comprehensive assignment.
If you want to sent strategies document individually you can open the strategies document and select "submit for review".
Haley> choosing what you want to do will always come before choosing what tool you want to use.
To often folks think it is the other way around. I can not tell you how many unused Smartboards that I have seen in SE Ohio. We have one the CTC that has not been turned on this year.
THIS IS OPINION ONLY I would steer clear of developing websites your own website because a. takes a lot of planning, effort and revision b. Of all you options this is the most labor intensive and has the least immediate value for learning.
Blogs are a decent communication tool. but there are still some restrictions (commenters can only comment) If I wanted students to keep a school related journal I would definitely have them keeping some sort of Blog.
wiki's As grandma would say "wiki's are the shit" only because she realizes that like I do that wiki's can do anything that websites and blogs do plus they can allow you do it much easier. With a wiki not only could you easily share resources with your students, students could easily share resources with the entire class. I am in a technology class right now where we are using a wiki to build our own study guide for the midterm and final exam. It has been an excellent resource for studying.
Tom, sounds like you are rooting for wiki's I will keep that in mind. thank you.
Question: If I am looking at my Livetext Welcome page I see: Active Assignments Active Documents
I have been working off my Active Documents is that correct? What is the difference/can I move the formatting of this page..so I don't have to scroll down to work?

Tom,
why can't I send my strategies collection for assignment submission, but I can lessons and etc.
should I not be sending anything for submission until the end?
